Blood Orange Shandy

Blood Orange Shandy

The weather around here has been all over the place. One day it’s freezing, and then the next day we’re in the upper 60s. When we climb into those higher temperatures, there’s nothing I want more than a shandy to cool down. I love a good beer, and in fact, every week I pick out a new beer that I haven’t had before to drink on Sunday. I’ve tried my fair share of shandies, and while I have a few favorites (this one and this one), sometimes I crave a little more fruit. This watermelon beer I made is one of the most popular recipes on this blog, and for good reason, too; it’s just two ingredients and super refreshing. Even if you don’t love beer like I do, I am almost certain you’ll love the watermelon beer, or this blood orange shandy.

While just mixing the blood orange juice and beer would be great enough, this shandy has one more ingredient in it to make it super special: almond extract. You just need one tiny little drop of it, but it really brings out the flavor of the blood orange juice. If you can’t find blood oranges because they’re either not on the shelves or out of season, you can use a regular orange in this – but still add the almond extract.
