Am I the only one who has just been exhausted lately? I feel like a couple of nights last week I was in bed by 9 – and I still haven’t caught up on all my sleep. Last weekend my brother and his friend came up and we had so much fun. We took the light rail into uptown Charlotte and went to a Hornets game. We started at the Ritz for cocktails and a couple of appetizers (I shared snaps of our weekend on Snapchat, follow me – tmcbride711 – to see what I’m up to!), then went into the game right at halftime. It was my first NBA game and it was a complete blast. After it was over, we bar hopped around town and then came back to my apartment and watched movies. So much fun. The next day, we watched the Panthers game (a nail-biter at the end!), and finallllly got my Christmas tree out of my house. It was such a fun weekend.
Even though I had Monday to catch up on some sleep, I’m pretty worn out from the weekend, so I’ll be looking forward to having a cocktail tonight. These blood orange spritzers are the easiest drinks and whenever I have the blood orange soda in my fridge, they’re one of the first things I mix up. Lemon juice and vodka are all you need, and then you top it with the soda and it’s so refreshing. It’s around 30 degrees here lately (and the wind chill makes it feel even colder), but even still, sometimes a cold drink is something I crave.
- 1 1/2 oz vodka
- 1/2 lemon, juiced
- Blood orange soda
- Mint, to garnish
- In a large mixing glass filled with ice, pour in the vodka and lemon juice. Stir well. Add in the blood orange soda and stir until mixed. Pour into a cocktail glass and garnish with mint.
