Rosé Wine Cocktail

Rosé Wine Cocktail

Yesterday was the 6th consecutive day that we’ve been in the 90s here in Charlotte. It’s so hot that I don’t want to do anything but lay in my air-conditioned apartment and dream of winter. Unfortunately (fortunately?), I can’t do that, so I’ve been finding other ways to beat the heat. I’m very lucky that my apartment has a corner balcony; I get a nice breeze which actually makes sitting out there bearable. I can take my laptop and get some stuff done and treat myself to a cocktail after a long (and hot after sitting in my car on the way home!) day of work. I always love a good rosé because they are so crisp and refreshing, but I decided to switch it up a little and create a rosé wine cocktail to make it that much better.

Rosé Wine Cocktail

Normally you can always find a bottle of rosé chilling in my fridge – it’s something that’s great for company and during the summer is the perfect go-to wine. Most everyone loves it. My brother Rich, who is a second-level sommelier, has helped me pick out a few great ones and my favorite part about rosé is that a good bottle will generally not break the bank. You can get a decent wine for not a lot of money. And because the wine isn’t insanely expensive, it’s a perfect one to mix into a cocktail. Lots of citrus, a splash of gin and simple syrup, and add your favorite rosé and you’ve got a cocktail that can beat any summer heat wave.

  1. I used to be a huge fan of rose wine (for all the same reasons) but had to stop drinking it these last couple of years because of its high sugar content. I had forgotten how much I enjoy it, until I had a glass in France. This cocktail is going on my summer to-drink list, and I am also hoping that with it will come some warm weather! It’s freezing (by June standards) here!

    1. Ummm that would be like my dream come true to have a glass of rose in France – that sounds perfect! I wish we could get rid of some of this heat by sending it up north – I’m hoping it ‘cools’ down to at least the high 80s soon haha!
